Pessoa Fragments is a work based on fragments of poems by Álvaro de Campos and Alberto Caeiro (both heteronyms of the Portuguese poet F. Pessoa).

There is a dichotomy between the styles of the two poets and their views on life, and this different style is also present and palpable in the musical fragments. The emotions are strong, and I have tried to translate them into the music. The piece demands strong chamber music skills, but is also virtuosic, both for the singer, who has to use unusual techniques and explore a wide vocal range, and for the cellist, who explores different extended techniques and timbres.
